Notes from Fr. John - Feb. 16

Dear Friends,

We have the first session for parish development tomorrow (Monday),  February 17 at the Knights of Columbus Dining Room at 7 p.m. At this first session we will be small group meetings. We want to hear from people about what is good about our parish, what needs to be improved, and what they are willing to work on to help build the Kingdom of God in the area that our parish is called to serve. There will be a second session (like a make-up session) on Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m. in the church basement.

The next step will be to form committees or action-teams in the area of Liturgy and Prayer (Christ the Priest), Evangelization and Catechetics (Christ the Prophet) and Social Ministry (Christ the King).

The Liturgy and Prayer group will meet on Monday, March 10. The Evangelization/Catechetics group will meet on Tuesday, March 11. The Social Ministry group will meet on Thursday, March 13. All the committees or action teams will meet in our church basement at 7 p.m. They might sub-divide to smaller groups, if needed, and they might feel the need to meet again in order to work on their plans. The Pastoral Council will oversee and coordinate all of the work of the groups.

We will use Wednesdays in Lent as (Soup and Spirit) as an opportunity to do two things: 1) Individual meetings where people can get to know one another better, and 2) Look at two Power Point presentations from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on how bilingual, bi cultural parishes can build strong parishes.

We hope to use that time well (probably during most of all of Lent) so that we can finish with a plan that will guide us in our ministries.

The Pastoral Council and I are looking forward to your participation.

Your brother  in Christ,
Father John
