We are working on our parish development process, Building the Kingdom of God. The Pastoral Council and I have planned our first session on Monday, February 17 at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Dining Room. We will have small group meetings at tables. The discussion should focus on what we want to affirm about our parish ministries, what we think could be improved, and what we are willing to do. We are not just looking for ideas, but also people who are willing to work together to make them happen. For those who cannot make that session, we will have another on Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m. (probably somewhere here at St. Michael's).
We will follow up with work in committees, where we focus on: Christ the Priest (life of prayer and liturgy), Monday, March 10 at 7 p.m.; Christ the Prophet (evangelization, catechetics, religious education and formation), Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. and Christ the King (social ministry, social justice), Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m.
We will use Wednesday evenings in Lent as Soup and Spirit (supper) as a time for us to get to know one another better with individual meetings and conversation over dinner. We will use of those nights as an opportunity to learn how the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (U.S.C.C.B) gives a framework for parishes such as ours that has an Hispanic community within it.
Your prayers, reflection and participation are welcome and needed!
Yours in Christ,
