Religious Education Seeks Volunteers

Have you ever thought about sharing your time and faith with the children of the parish or adults and children wanting to become Catholic? This fall the St. Michael Religious Education Department will have openings for volunteers in its Religious Education and RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) programs.

Religious Education Volunteer Jobs

Catechist: As a catechist, you will present weekly lessons to children in the grade level you are assigned. Duties include planning each lesson using a teacher's guide and keeping children focused and interested. Training is provided. Catechist positions are perfect for couples who can alternate as team teachers!

Teacher's Assistant: A vital position, the teacher's assistant aides the catechist with weekly activities, discipline and, if needed, supervises the class or presents the weekly assignment in the catechist's absence.

Substitute Catechist: From time to time, a substitute is greatly needed when a catechist is ill or unable to teach for some other reason. The duties of the substitute are the same as that of the catechist.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

Team Presenters: Using a leader's guide and other materials, presenters will share--on a rotating basis-- the teachings of the faith every week to adults and children who want to become Catholic. A knowledge and love of your Catholic faith, and a desire to share it, is preferred. Training will be provided.

Religious Education classes and RCIA sessions start Wednesday, August 20, from 6-7 p.m. at Saint Michael Catholic School. RCIA will meet in the school cafeteria.

Should you be interested in passing on your Catholic faith, contact Mr. Lenburg at the Rectory at 936-4935, ext. 109.
