The Sacrament of Confirmation will be conferred by Bishop Emeritus William L. Higi of the Diocese of Lafayette on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 7 p.m. at Saint Michael Catholic Church.
Practice for candidates and sponsors: Wednesday, April 8, 2015, 6 p.m, Saint Michael Catholic Church. As candidates and sponsors arrive, they will guided to their seats. Candidates will sit on the Blessed Virgin Mary's side, sponsors on St. Joseph's side of the church.
Dress Code for Candidates and Sponsors:
Gentlemen: Dress pants with a belt, dress shoes with socks, collared dress shirt tucked in, necktie.
Ladies: Modest dress or modest skirt and blouse or nice pants suit with dress shoes. (Skirt must be to your knee or longer when seated.) No short skirts or tops. Dresses must have sleeves. Nothing strapless. No spaghetti straps. If you have a sleeveless dress or blouse you must wear a sweater over it. No low or plunging neck lines. No bare backs. No bare midriffs. No overly tight clothing.
Both: No t-shirts, jeans, sneakers, sandals or flip flops.
During the Mass, flash photography and videography with a light is not permitted. Photos and video may taken from the pews.
Confession: To receive the Sacrament, the church requires each candidate to be in a state of grace. If a candidate is not in a state of grace, he/she needs to go to confession prior to receiving the Sacrament. In addition to going to confession on Saturdays (11 a.m. to noon or 3-4 p.m), candidates can meet this requirement by going to the Lenten Penance Service on Tuesday, March 24 at 7 p.m. Several priests will be on hand to hear confessions.
