Religious Education

Dear friends,

We miss Carolina Sanchez’s smiling face, dedication, and hard work. She will be hard to replace.

Nevertheless, the challenge to pass on the Faith to the next generation is still before us. Fr. Craig and I have met with the religious education teachers and asked for their help to carry out at least some of the work that Carolina had been doing.  There are more tasks than they have been able to take on. I have also discussed the process with the advisory school board, Mrs. Amy Weidner our School Principal, and others.

We have developed a job description for a Director of Religious Education. As we finish sharing it with some of those involved in the school and religious education, we will publish it and invite people to apply and go through an interview. It will be on the parish website. The hope is to have a person who can oversee the religious education in the school, as well as the Wednesday evening religious education program. After a small group participates in the interviews, they will make their recommendations of the strengths of each person to me, and I will make a final selection.

In the meantime, I am asking Lily Pimentel, our St. Michael School Eighth Grade teacher, to take the role of Director of Religious Education on an interim basis. This is an important role. We need to have someone there now.

I would like to invite the religious education teachers and anyone interested to come to the school science room at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, before religious education classes to meet Mrs. Pimentel. She brings a strong faith and lots of enthusiasm.

Your brother in Christ,

Rev. John S. Korcsmar, C.S.C.
